Being one who was ‘fortunate to see them live’ I think I recognize what you are getting at with regard to all the experiences – lucky are we who enjoyed it. However since joining in with forum I have come to recognize the distinction between the experience of being there and listening to the recordings. Here we can each listen to a lot of concert. We can share our awe (or dismay) at how the band played and we can share our experience of being at that particular show.

But one thing is plain and obvious to me from reading posts in this forum – you can come to grasp the majesty of the Dead without ever seeing them in person!
